About Breast Cancer

What are the symptoms of Breast Cancer?

  • A new lump or thickening in your breast or underarm
  • A change in skin texture such as dimpling
  • Flaky skin or redness around the nipple area
  • Your nipple becomes inverted or changes shape
  • Liquid discharge from your nipple
  • Swelling in your armpit or around your collarbone

Breast Cancer Treatments 

The best treatment for you will depend on

    • The size and grade of your tumour
    • The type of breast you have
    • What proteins/hormone receptors are on your cancer cells
    • If the cancer has spread

Option 1: Surgery

Breast-Conserving Surgery – Surgery during which the part of the breast containing the tumour is removed

Mastectomy – Surgery where the whole breast is removed

Option 2: Radiotherapy

External RadiotherapyUses high energy rays to kill the cancer cells. It can be given instead of surgery or after surgery

Internal RadiotherapyThe radiation source is placed in or near your tumour for a very short time to kill the cancer cells.

Option 3: Systemic Therapy

Oral MedicationsTaken over the course of 5 years. Depending on the type of medication it will either block the effect of estrogen or stop the body making estrogen.

ChemotherapyA treatment using drugs to kill cancer cells given by IV infusion.

Nationwide Delivery

We deliver to all addresses in The Republic of Ireland, to both home and work/office locations. Once we have your prescription from your GP, your medications will be checked by our pharmacists and dispatched for next day delivery. We cannot ship prescription medications outside of Ireland due to regulations.

Discrete Packaging

All of our medication orders are sent in discreet packaging without any Healthwave branding on the outside. We use double walled cardboard boxes to protect your medications as well as specialised cold-chain packaging for fridge items.
