How long does an online weight-loss prescription take?
An online form is usually reviewed within a few hours on a working day, and a phone or video consultation is booked at a time that suits you. Once the doctor issues the prescription, it is sent straight to Healthwave so we can prepare your order.
Can I get a 3-month weight-loss prescription?
Yes. A 3-month prescription is available through a phone or video weight-loss consultation, from €45. A short online form issues a standard-duration prescription instead, so choose the consultation if you want a 3-month supply.
How much does it cost, and does the price include the medication?
The online doctor's fee, from €20 for a form or from €45 for a 3-month consultation, covers the consultation and prescription only. You pay for the medication separately when Healthwave dispenses it, and we confirm the medication price with you first.
Do I need a prescription for Wegovy or Mounjaro in Ireland?
Yes. Weight-loss injections such as Wegovy and Mounjaro are prescription-only medicines in Ireland and can only be supplied after an assessment by a registered prescriber. The online doctor decides whether the medication is suitable for you before any prescription is issued.
Which weight-loss medications can be prescribed?
Depending on the provider and your clinical suitability, an online doctor may prescribe GLP-1 injections such as Mounjaro, Wegovy or Saxenda, or tablets such as Orlistat. Suitability, dose and duration are decided by the prescriber, and Healthwave dispenses whatever is prescribed.
