What Viaredin 50 mg is and what it is used for
Viaredin 50 mg is a film-coated tablet that contains sildenafil citrate. It belongs to a class of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. The product works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing increased blood flow when sexual stimulation occurs; an erection will only happen if sexual stimulation is present. Viaredin is indicated for adult men (18 years and older) experiencing erectile dysfunction, the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance.

How it works
Sexual stimulation causes the release of nitric oxide in the penile tissue. This activates an enzyme which boosts cyclic GMP concentrations, relaxing smooth muscle and increasing blood flow. Sildenafil enhances this mechanism by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which would otherwise break down cyclic GMP, thereby supporting the process of erection during sexual activity.
