Things people ask before they switch.

Is the generic the same as the brand?
Yes. A generic contains the exact same active ingredient as the brand, at the same strength, and is regulated by the HPRA in Ireland in the same way. The tablet may look different (a different colour, shape or capsule type) but it works the same in your body.
We only swap to a generic where a licensed one is available and clinically appropriate. If your specific medication has no licensed generic, we'll dispense the brand.

Do I need to change my doctor?
No. You keep your existing GP. They send your order to us through Healthmail, the same secure system every Irish pharmacy uses. Most GPs are already set up.

Can I use FullScript with my medical card, DPS or LTI?
No. FullScript is a cash-pay service. HSE scheme items (medical card, DPS, LTI) have to be dispensed monthly under the HSE's contract with pharmacies, so they can't be included in a 3- or 6-month FullScript supply.
Healthwave dispenses your HSE scheme items the same as any Irish pharmacy on a standard monthly basis. Many patients use both at once: HSE scheme items monthly, plus their other regular medication on FullScript.

What if my dose changes during the six months?
Tell us. Our pharmacists will adjust your next dispense and, where needed, arrange a new order from your doctor. You won't be left short.

What if I want to leave Healthwave later?
You can leave at any time. There's no contract and no lock-in. Your records belong to you, and we'll pass them to your new pharmacy if needed.

How long does delivery take?
Two to three working days nationwide via An Post, once your doctor's order has arrived and our pharmacist has completed the review. We send a tracking number when it leaves the pharmacy.

Is my medication eligible for FullScript?
Most regular medication for long-term conditions is eligible. A small number of treatments are restricted to monthly dispense by Irish regulation and don't qualify.

Generic equivalents are licensed by the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) and contain the same active ingredient at the same strength as the brand. Healthwave dispenses brand-name medication where no licensed generic is available or where clinically required. HSE scheme items (medical card, DPS, LTI) are not eligible for FullScript because the HSE's contract with pharmacies requires them to be dispensed monthly; Healthwave operates HSE schemes separately on a standard monthly basis.
