Bonjela Gel is a clear, aniseed-flavoured oromucosal gel used to relieve pain and discomfort in the mouth. It helps to reduce inflammation and fight infection in:
  • Infant teething (from 4 months)

  • Mouth ulcers

  • Cold sores on the lips

  • Sore spots caused by dentures in adults or by braces in children

Infants and children (teething)

Bonjela Gel can be used to soothe the pain and discomfort of teething in babies from 4 months of age.

  • Gently massage a small, pea-sized amount of gel onto the sore area of the gum with a clean finger.

  • The gel helps to ease pain, reduce redness and support healing.

Mouth ulcers and cold sores

Bonjela Gel can be used by adults and children for common mouth ulcers and cold sores on the lips.

  • Apply the gel directly to the sore area with a clean finger.

  • It helps to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and support healing.

Sore spots from dentures or braces

Bonjela Gel can also be used for painful sore spots under dentures (adults) or from orthodontic devices (children and teenagers).

  • Apply the gel to the sore area inside the mouth.

  • If you are using dentures, leave at least 30 minutes after applying the gel before putting your dentures back in.

Do not use Bonjela Gel if

Do not use this product:

  • In children under 4 months of age

  • If you or your child are allergic to salicylates or any of the ingredients

  • If you or your child are taking aspirin or other salicylate-containing medicines

  • If you or your child have a history of recurrent stomach ulcers

  • In children or teenagers who have chickenpox or flu-like symptoms

  • On large areas of the mouth or on severely broken or infected skin

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have other medical conditions or are taking other medicines, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using Bonjela Gel.

If symptoms do not improve, get worse, or if you are worried about your or your child’s symptoms, seek medical advice.

For oral use only. Always use the smallest amount needed to relieve symptoms and always follow the directions on the pack. Infants and children from 4 months Apply a small, pea-sized amount of gel to a clean fingertip. Gently massage onto the sore area of the gum. Use no more often than once every 3 hours. Do not use more than 6 times in 24 hours.

Adults and older children Squeeze about 1 cm of gel onto a clean fingertip. Gently massage onto the sore area in the mouth or on the lips. Use no more often than once every 3 hours. Do not use more than 6 times in 24 hours. How long to use it Use for up to 7 days. If symptoms do not improve after 7 days, or if they get worse, stop using the gel and speak to your doctor, dentist or pharmacist. Important information For use in the mouth and on the lips only. Avoid contact with the eyes. Wash your hands before and after applying the gel. If you accidentally use more than recommended or if a child swallows a large amount, contact a doctor or emergency services immediately.
